ACTIVITIES AT CHUNDU ISLAND
There is so much to do, making the most of the Zambezi River, the stunning island setting and of course the Zambezi National Park. For those seeking a bit of a thrill, experience a guided bush walk in the National Park with an armed professional guide, looking out for big and small game – or set off downriver canoeing in an inflatable canoe, spotting elephants drinking from the banks while steering clear of inquisitive hippos and crocodiles. For the curious, consider morning or evening game drives and fishing or bird walks on the island. And, when you’ve had enough excitement for the day, what about relaxing at the pool overlooking the river and park, an in-room massage and a sunset cruise on the water with cocktails and snacks

Young Guests
The Children's Club at Chundu Island has a unique daily activity programme which will be displayed on the activities board in the main reception area.

Kiddies can enjoy activities such as:
Treasure island hunt
Sand castle building
Fun fishing from the jetty
Mini raft races
Pizza making
'Bush & island tales'

ABOUT THE LOCATION & THE ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK

The Zambezi National Park owes its status and existence to Victoria Falls, one of the world’s largest waterfalls when it is in full flow, with a width of 1.7km. The combination of the Zambezi National Park, Victoria Falls National Park and of course the falls themselves comprise a UNESCO world heritage site.

Recognised because of its proximity to the Victoria Falls – one of the 7 wonders of the world – the Zambezi National Park has become a sought-after destination in its own right. With 4 of the ‘Big 5’ as well as rarely seen wild dogs, and a wide variety of game including sable antelope, kudu and eland it is a natural attraction.

THE BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

Viewing the Falls: The high-water period runs from February to July – this is when the falls are at their most spectacular. The low water period occurs from August to January, when the spray is less, and the geological formation of the falls is most visible

Game Viewing: is at its best from May through to October (inclusive). May to August are the cooler months and May to October dry months. This makes game viewing easier because there is less foliage and animals are drawn to water holes and rivers.

Canoeing and sunset cruises: are available all year round, although the water levels differ, these are generally gentle, tranquil experiences which may become a little more exciting in the period from August to December when the water is lower.

Birding, Newborn Animals and Plant identification:  April to November

Tiger and Nembwe Bream Fishing: June to December

Good Weather: April to September (October is usually also known for clear weather, but can get quite hot)
