ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
• Morning and afternoon game drives via two 4x4 open Toyota Land Cruisers with removable canopies (8 seats of which 6 are window seats).
• Game drives are fruitful with a variety of antelope, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and buffalo to be seen. Predator viewing is exceptional including lion, leopard, wild dog and cheetah.
• A specially adapted photography vehicle (Toyota Prado fitted specifically for those guests who want to photograph unhindered), available at extra cost, with 6 seats: 1 up front next to the guide, 2 behind the driver row and a back row of 3 seats.
• The camp has a supply of bean bags for guests to use to steady the camera while on game drive.
• Night drives with spotlights.
• Short walks from camp and on game drives.
• Bird watching.
• Massage therapies are available either in the guest’s tent or on the deck outside their tent.
• “Siesta’ viewing platforms plus hides at waterholes and at scenic locations within the reserve.
• Brunch or sundowner cruises on the HMS Zibadianja pontoon on the Zibadianja lagoon.
IMPORTANT NOTES
• Tourism Levy of USD 30 per person for Botswana, is to be paid upon arrival at port of entry. Payment can be made through electronic machines, cash (US Dollars) or debit and credit cards. (USD cash is recommended)

GETTING THERE
Flying times:

To/from Maun: 45 minutes
To/from Kasane: 50 minutes
To/from Motswiri: 15 minutes

Airstrip details:
The camp uses the Selinda airstrip located about 20 minutes drive from camp A category B airstrip able to accommodate a King Air, PC 12, Beechcraft Baron, Piper Seneca and smaller aircraft. Sometimes in periods of high water levels, access may be from the neighbouring Linyanti Chobe 1 airfield followed by a drive and then a boat transfer to camp.

ACCOMMODATION
Four tents in total consisting of:
4 x twin bedded Tents
Double beds available on request
1 x single twin bedded guide Tent (not the same standard as guest tents)
This camp usually accommodates 6 guests but can accommodate 8 guests on request

ABOUT ZARAFA CAMP

Zarafa Camp is blessed with an extraordinary location. The camp, positioned under the shady canopy of jackalberry and red ivory trees, overlooks the patchwork of savannas and floodplains of Zibadianja Lagoon's southern shores. These uninterrupted views are breathtaking and provide regular sightings of the Reserve's prolific wildlife.
 
SUGGESTED DAILY ACTIVITY SCHEDULE
 
First light - Wake up call. Light continental breakfast consisting of cereals, tea/coffee/juices to be served in the dining room or around the fire
 
Dawn - Depart for morning activities, returning to camp at approximately 10h00
 
10h00/11h00 - Brunch consisting of a selection of breakfast and lunch dishes From now until afternoon tea, it is siesta time where guests are at leisure to enjoy wildlife viewing from the bar, sunken hide or even take escorted short walks from camp

 
15h00 - Afternoon tea consisting of a selection of sweet and savoury snacks
 
15h30 - Depart on afternoon game viewing activities – drinks and snacks served for sundowners during the course of the activity
 
19h00/19h30 - Return to camp (but could be later if good game sighting)
 
20h00 - Pre-dinner drinks are served at the bar
 
20h30 - Three-course dinner served with table wine
 
22h00 - Coffee and drinks at the campfire

ELECTRICITY & WATER
 
  • Zarafa creates all its power from the sun. Zarafa has pioneered a solar farm of 150 solar panels that feed special batteries which create 220V electricity 24 hours a day throughout the camp. Even the ice machines and cold rooms are run from solar power. However, should an emergency arise, a conventional back-up generator ensures uninterrupted power delivery
  • Each tent has 220v inverter system for lighting and other limited electrical use (no hairdryers) 24hrs a day
  • Video camera batteries can be charged in each tent 24hrs a day. An adaptor is provided in each room that accommodates most international plug systems but please bring a spare camera battery to ensure uninterrupted photographic opportunities
  • Plug points are available in each tent so that sleep apnoea machines may be used
  • Hot water is available 24 hours a day
LAUNDRY POLICY
 
  • Laundry is done on a daily basis and inclusive in the nightly tariff
