ABOUT KLASERIE DRIFT SAFARI CAMPS
The Klaserie Drift Safari Camps are set on 3000 hectares of prime land in the heart of the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, offering a true, exclusive retreat into nature. The camps are ideally located for visitors to enjoy all the wildlife Africa has to offer, in a private and secluded setting, featuring the big five, incredibly diverse landscapes and comfortable accommodation with all modern amenities.
There are two well-appointed private camps, offering exclusivity, relaxation and solitude; each with its own swimming pool and unique ambience.
Angela’s Safari Camp features a deck overlooking the Klaserie River.In true African style, works of art from local artists adorn each room so that guests can experience the authentic feel of Africa.
Amani Safari Camp boasts a lantern lit “welcome-bridge” akin to Hollywood’s red carpet. Its bar and entertainment area lie only meters away from a high-traffic wildlife watering hole, adjacent to the Klaserie dry river bed. Each room is named after a unique African bird, and features artwork depicting its name-sake.
In an effort to give back to the communities in the area, the Klaserie Drift Safari Camps support the local, non-profit Eco Children initiative, which strives to support the education of the children of the employees of the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve and surrounding communities.
The Klaserie Drift Safari Camps also offer Eco Training, a programme which includes basic education for the employees themselves. From first aid, to fire-fighting and conservation, the employees are empowered to apply their skills at the Safari Camps.
Two guided game drives are offered daily, scheduled at guests’ leisure. Guides provide insight into the workings of the bushveld, the traits of the animals seen on the drive and the diverse terrain and plant life, from flat planes to rocky outcrops and hilly landscapes. The Klaserie Drift Safari Camps are home to a wide variety of predators, including lion, leopard, smaller cats, spotted hyenas, jackals and wild dogs. As such, the thrill of witnessing a kill looms around every corner. Buffalo, rhino, hippo, giraffe, elephant, a variety of buck, an array of birdlife, baboons, monkeys and mongooses can be spotted daily – to name but a few.
By prior arrangement, game drives can include a visit to the high-traffic dam, or Koppie Lookout, which offers a spectacular vantage point for witnessing the stunning hues of an African sunset – an experience never to be forgotten.
ANGELA'S SAFARI CAMP
Each Camp, specifically designed to ensure the utmost exclusivity and comfort, is protected by a low-lying electric fence, is fully serviced daily, and can accommodate 8 to 10 people sharing. Angela’s and Amani Camp can be booked out for groups, or rooms can be booked separately, and is fully catered.
The intimate Camp provides a welcome mixture of African rondavel suites that can accommodate 10 guests, and a modern, clean farm style main building and entertainment area. The landscaped garden gives way to raw, wild flora. A flagstone pathway leads guests to the awe-inspiring lookout deck, built above the Klaserie River, incorporating a second entertainment area with breath-taking views.
Angela’s Safari Camp offers five chalets, each providing accommodation for two guests and featuring en-suite bathrooms with large showers. Every chalet is named after a local artist from the area, with a framed copy of the artist’s biography. Adding a touch of local flair, each chalet is beautifully decorated with the artist’s authentic artwork.
Each room is fitted with a ceiling fan and an air-conditioner. The Camp is serviced daily, which includes cleaning, washing of dishes and making up the rooms. There is full cellphone reception, ensuring that guests remain connected if required.
The main entertainment area provides a TV room with DSTV, a dining area and a modern, spacious open plan kitchen, scullery and laundry. The kitchen is well appointed and features a modern, large gas stove. The building is tastefully decorated with Mariette Huysamer’s artwork and exudes comfort and relaxation. The patio is fitted with a handcrafted wooden bar and a few steps across the lawn, a boma and outside braai provide warmth and atmosphere.
Angela’s Safari Camp’s thatched lookout deck is fully equipped with a drinks fridge, braai area, rim flow pool and loungers. The covered area contains comfortable Morris chairs, while the wooden dining table and chairs (covered by a large umbrella) offer space for dining pleasure.
AMANI SAFARI CAMP
The Boutique Amani Safari Camp was acquired in 1990 and has been cultivated to house guests in ultimate, under stated bushveld style. The raw bush that surrounds the Camp gives it an authentic, isolated atmosphere, allowing visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of city life entirely.
In 2012, the Camp was washed away in a flood, and has been rebuilt to offer a true home away from home. Today, a dry riverbed separates the Camp from a frequently used watering hole, which lies adjacent to the extensive entertainment area and commonly attracts jackals, hyenas, warthogs and elephants.
Across the green lawn and under the large trees, the charming, beautifully furnished large house provides ample accommodation for eight guests.The fully catered Amani Safari Camp can be booked out as a single unit, or guests can book per room, as required. It offers a true, exclusive retreat into nature.
The experience is heightened by Head Chef, Simon de Kock who was born and raised in Hoedspruit, Simon has Africa in his blood and passionately prepares healthy, interesting meals that are inspired by years of international travel, experience in five star restaurants and lodges, and Michelin training. Offering private dinners, boma banquets, and meals at a table laid in the heart of the bush, every meal served is an occasion.
Daily meals include game drive snacks, a post-game drive brunch, high tea and dinner. All ingredients are locally sourced, fresh produce and all breads, rusks and biscuits are made at Amani daily.
Amani Safari Camp provides accommodation for eight guests, in a private and tranquil setting. The layout of this Camp is unique, comprising one house with a central living area and four en-suite bedrooms. The beds can be made up as one king bed per room, or two single beds. Each bedroom has its own private entrance and large windows provide access to remarkable views of the Nature Reserve.
Each room is named after an African bird, beautifully decorated and fitted with a ceiling fan and an air-conditioner. The Camp is serviced daily.
The central living area features two open plan lounges on the ground floor, as well as a library and a TV room on the open-air second level. A large deck provides the perfect setting for the ultimate dining experience, or a moment to soak in the African sun.
The entertainment area consists of a sizeable deck, a large infinity pool, an open-air bar and a dining area. A boma provides ambience, and a lovely outdoor braai area. The thatched house is double volume and boasts a grand entrance, spacious open plan kitchen, two open plan lounges, a TV lounge with DSTV, a library, and a dining area on the deck. WiFi is available, ensuring that guests remain connected with the outside world.
Wi-Fi is available, to ensure connection with the outside world. With a constant focus on sustainability, the Camp is proudly eco-friendly, being completely solar powered.

The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve bordering The Kruger National Park with no boundary fences between the two and surrounding reserves, game viewers and wildlife photographers are offered the opportunity to spot the elusive big five, countless antelope, various magnificent mammals, and a large variety of beautiful bird species. Although game drives are scheduled at guests’ leisure, to safeguard the Reserve’s delicate eco-systems and for guests’ safety, self-drive game viewing is not permitted. This unique and exclusive approach means that there are only two game viewing vehicles in the park at any time, giving real insight into untouched tranquillity of natural beauty. From coffee stops on the banks of the Klaserie River and sunsets on the koppie, the Klaserie Safari Camps present a myriad of exhilarating wildlife experiences and encounters with nature.

In this quiet setting, wildlife feel safe, and throughout the relevant breeding seasons many young can be seen making their home within the Klaserie’s borders. In 2016, for example, leopard cubs were spotted in the park, a pride of lions had its cubs within Klaserie, and in 2017 a pack of wild dogs made their den close to Angela’s Camp, complete with many pups.
